Frank Chimero
Frank Chimero has a really has a nice sense of humor. Not to mention, his illustrations are pretty cool too. I can see his personality from his work. Warm, fun and very spontaneous. I like his self project, the one with the different states and he did illustrations that best represent each state.
His website is also very clear and organised. I would love to sell my works too like him. Especially my pattern works which needs some fine-tuning to be done just yet.

Field Notes

Field Notes is a website that sells really nice notebook. Though very simple and just a pocket sized notebook. I feel like buying it on impulse. haha. I kinda have too many handy dandy notebooks with me but they're all full of things I just scrambled on during studio lessons.
Perhaps I can get one of this for my birthday! yay!

Lauren Nassef
Lauren Nassef is a freelance illustrator living in Chicago. She graduated from the same school as Astrid, Rhode Island School of Design in 2001. Hmmm, my dream grad school...
I kinda like how meticulous her drawings are. They are simple, clean and with a lot of emotion. Her line/pencil control and skills are to be admired. Her illustrations may look old-school. But looking at too many vector or trendy-like illustrations these days just makes Lauren a special one from the crowd.
I was a little caught up spending time with my family last weekend that i almost forgot to update my blog. today i was thinking about L cause I was expecting my mom to fry "Lontong Goreng" for break fast later.
In the end, my mom forgot to buy the lontong or carrot cake when we were in Geylang. Oh well, we still have 26 days to go in Ramadhan. I am sure mom will fry that for us one day.

The Two Sarahs

"It's printed then dyed with tea and adhered to a painted red oak block, then finished with a layer of beeswax and resin. Measures approximately 2" X 2 3/8" and is about 3/4" deep. There's a tiny sawtooth hanger on back, or it perches nicely."
the pair makes screen prints and print block. it's not bad i thought. the technique is something i would love to learn though
and it begins
from this day on, i shall post my thoughts, rattles, rambles and most importantly inspirations on anything that seems to trigger my mind. i was looking at so many talented people and their creative bits. i found myself drawing nearer to the world of illustrations. awed by the different style and was thinking if that really reflected their personality or their alter ego.
nonetheless, i am inspired by thedesignalphabet. she finds inspirations according to alphabets. the letters can either represent the artists, designer or even the work she blogs on.
that idea is very encouraging i thought. each month she would have compiled many different vocabulary of creatives and they are all alphabetically arranged! so wonderful. well, i think i wanna follow her footsteps.
but i don't wanna make it too routine. so i have another idea.
i will make a bowl of alphabet balls. close my eyes and just randomly picks out a letter. that letter will be the letter of the day. and i will at least 3 things particularly interesting about that letter. sources are limitless. might be the lunch i will lunch or even a weird imagination while i talk to my colleagues at work.
i think i miss school and the studio/workshop so much that i want to begin my own mini project and feel entertained and satisfied by that.
